A thought, a word, or a phrase launches my art. While text and structure are intentional parts of my work I am intrigued with the complex and mundane of color, line, and objects. My work includes the Joseph Cornell tradition of box assemblages and mixed media constructions on canvas or wood panel. I use acrylic paint and texture, gesso, collage, wood, metal, glass and found objects. Problem solving, adding and subtracting materials, and being patiently persistent is my work process. I strive to intertwine visual and mental elements in a composition that catches the eye and challenges the viewer to new insight.
