My summer 2019 art making solely involved exploring two media forms of “trash.” Following a fascination with tea bags and leaves, I gathered cast off domestic and commercial bags from the neighborhood. Secondly, 3 months of early Sunday morning “wrashing” (walking and picking up trash) on Lamar Blvd. ATX yielded an assortment of paper, metal and fabric vibrant with color and tantalizing written content. Using detritus I gained a deeper understanding of layering, texture and color chemical reactions. Beyond art learning, I hope viewers enjoy reflection on hidden history- and-mystery-questions about those who originated the refuse.
